Dr. Jithesh V Patil (IAS) , district collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem has been received the story collection written by Murthy Kvvs at a meeting held at Palvoncha. This story collection has 11 English stories and the title is "The Riverside Man and other short sties". Popular Telugu writer Yandamuri Veerendranath , renowned Indo-Anglian writer Gulmat Mayo and others lauded the book in their reviews. Most of the stories are based on the real happenings around a pilgrim town and the rest are with the theme of interesting incidents. Those who are enthusiastic to get the book can ask for details in the comment section.

Philanthropic Venture

 Chippa Srinivas and Satyavati, the couple who settled at Hyderabad donated two cycles of Hero brand to the Vanavasi kalyana parishat (Komaram Bhim vidhyarti nilayam) located at Charla.

 The donation has been made by them on the occasion of birthday of their offspring named Mani deep and Tej deep. Total worth of them is Rs.13,000/- and honorary adviser BVSL Narasimha Rao asked that Pupil should take the opportunity of donations for their upliftment. 

 And he congratulated the donors in the event held on the occasion.Chippa Narasimha murthy handed over the cycles to Gondi Shobhan Babu (Prachanda pramukh).Javvadi Muralikrishna (vice-president), Vemulapalli Praveen (Treasurer), Gondi Prasanna kumari (Nilaya pramukh) and inmates of Vanavasi Nilayam attended.

The British Reminiscences

 

It looks like a treasure trove of bountiful natural beauty over there with a river flowing and brimming with lush green on both sides. The three gentlemen were standing on the anicut, which had been built during the British era. Might be reminding somewhere backwaters in some other state? No, it's around Dummugudem, the place that encompasses a lot of history with the reminiscences of the colonial period. The old buildings in the village keep giving in, and they remain as a dilapidated lot for passersby.

 An anicut (usually said as headlocks) constructed with sturdy iron material along with logs in doors. Water management and navigation were in their view when it was made. Most of the construction is intact, and a new irrigation project is underway nearby. With the onslaught of rough weather and time constraints, the historical construction is losing its sheen. A small island is there amidst the Godavari with scenic grandeur. Floods shattered twice heavily, and with the reason, many families shifted from here to a nearby place, Lakshmi nagaram.

Squirrel watching

 

Squirrel got photographed. Have never thought of taking pic of this tiny and  simple being. It's attitude, after watching some time, moved to capture it in my mobile's camera. Being preserved is good but clarity is not up to the mark. Doubted, yet, satisfied with self-clarification that it is not for sending to any photography competition. I have been watching the squirrel for observing a few things. It was trying to grab the morsels nearby the paper plate. Back and forth, it does so many times. How fast and vigilant ! Determined that the photographer was not so dangerous and at last fearlessly has given pose for my mobile.

Film Industry to Shift ?

 Pushpa-2 movie is going ahead crossing many records in the north but down south facing odds like arresting of Allu Arjun and that too, on the pretext of death of a cine goer at the theater. Different people divided into different opinions. At present, day by day, collections are picking up all over two states. Some people say that there was some political vendetta behind entire episode. Whatever the truth, chaotic situation ruling the roost. Film industry to shift AP. This demand was there from coastal Andhra for a long time. Any strategic movement  in line of such desire to fulfill ? God only knows !

Hyderabad is considered as the safest and proven haven for the film industry. Of course in many aspects, that's true. Shifting could not have materialized due to many reasons, though the some big wigs of the field desired so. Already Hyderabad has well established in all kinds of infrastructure. And some big wigs have huge business interests. It's not that easy leaving them behind since political situations are volatile in line of changing times. Anyway, all these are mere speculations popping up in the wake of latest developments.  

Shodasi : Secrets of The Ramayana

 Here is a book with ground-breaking research. The title of the book is Shodasi. And it was written by non other than Gunturu Seshendra Sharma, an erudite scholar and prolific author in Telugu. In fact, he has a unique place in the field of Telugu literature and his outstanding scholarship both in Eastern and western philosophy and poetry is legendary. Shodasi is a name associated with Mantra Sastra. And it is another name for Sri Bala Tripura Sundari. How would it be connected with Ramayana, authored by Valmiki ? Everyone could frown over the very idea of conceiving the plot. Valmiki's poetic diction is not that easy to comprehend and it has many secret layers. The magnum opus is a repository of critical discourses and it is replete with inconceivable and unfathomable issues.

Seshendra Sharma's capacity for meticulous observation of 24 thousand slokas disclosed new avenues and this book is literally an experiment in nutshell. According to author the exposition of the story of Ramayana by Valmiki is not a narration in excellent poetic style. Underlying this is an attempt to infuse in it the directives of the esoteric theories of Kundalini Yoga. Seshendra has also done extensive research into the Maha Bharatha and proves conclusively that Vyasa has, in his epic Maha Bharatha, closely followed Valmiki in many aspects. Analogies in the Ramayana appear in a new light , once you have gone through it. How Kalidasa got inspired from Valmiki in terms of depicting changes in the nature has been proved with extensive range of examples.

Trijata Dream, Sundara Kanda and all other important cantos were examined in the unprecedented way. Valmiki took all his similies, words and thoughts from Vedic literature. Author gave many examples to support his proposition. One of the novel points in this is interesting. He says one who was Indra in Vedas appeared like Vishnu in Puranas. That means the attributes of Vishnu in Puranas will be seen in Indra of Vedas. The book is thought-provoking and well written. English translation rendered by Dr. Gurajada Suryanarayana Murthy, a retired scientist in Baba Atomic Research Centre.

 It invests in Asia, Africa and Europe. It has invested $1.34 trillion and has business partnerships with the US, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.

China is also investing heavily in India. China is the world's largest producer of consumer electronics, electricals, textiles, automobiles, chemicals, computers, plastics and medical equipment. This country is making its mark in the world.

 Checking WhatsApp every day has almost become an unavoidable ritual for everyone. Not once or twice, sometimes quite multiple times with anxiety, for updates that contain pics or messages. 

We will be looked down on if we say that WhatsApp is unknown. It has penetrated our lives so much today. At the same time, most people are trying to reduce their watching time due to various reasons. Eye pain, forgetfulness, insomnia, etc. are some of the ailments we suffer from in case the habit turns into addiction.

There are currently 535.8 million WhatsApp users in our country. And this number is increasing day in and day out. Say, 16.6 percent every year. Be it any place, we can witness lots of people engrossed in such a holy ritual as if it were an inevitable thing for them.

 A whole other world seemed to be absent in their mind. In this info evolving global situation, receiving communication through WhatsApp is a great idea but it should not eat up our other works and habits. Moreover, health-wise, one should be very careful.

I know many serious book readers remain passive towards the habit and are addicted to WhatsApp for hours and hours. 

We have resultantly, ended up with eye pain and insomnia. So one should abide by particular times and stick to it strictly if watching WhatsApp is necessary. Otherwise, avoid the app. 

One more idea is that we shouldn't bring a smartphone when we go out so that we can reduce watching time and at the same time making and receiving calls are also possible with ordinary devices.

Being in some groups is mandatory if we are socially active in any diverse engagements. Then, adopting habits like not opening unnecessary videos gives us ample time for us to do other things.

 Don't argue in groups. It consumes most of our time for nothing. WhatsApp is a sword with two edges. It should be an added asset but not cause to procrastination in our other important work including health hazards. The time-tested adage goes like this, too much of everything is good for nothing.

I was interviewed by a news paper

 

 

Andhra jyothi Daily , the third largest  circulated Telugu news paper placed my interview in today's issue. I can't translate entire text. They precisely wrote about my books and inspiration and many other things which described what I am now. I don't generally like publicity but sometimes we have to oblige social norms for the sake of our well wishers. 

A Media baron and a king maker : Ramoji Rao

An era closed today for Telugu people with the demise of media baron Cherukuri Ramoji Rao. He died in an hospital in Hyderabad. 

He influenced entire Telugu diaspora  a lot in terms of many things like vernacular news paper Eenadu, chit-fund business, pickles, movies, magazines of different generes and well-known Ramoji film city.

 Ramoji Rao was an innovative spirit who always tried to stand forefront whatever work he has taken up. His brainchild Eenadu daily is one of the largest ones with the circulation of 13,51,956 as per the statistics of 2022.

Rao came into cinema field and produced two dozens of movies and his Ramoji film city is world's largest film and amusement park. 

His business empire has not been created overnight , yet, it took some decades to become a legend with his shrewd business acumen. 

Spread into many fields and his political strategies  caused raising TDP party unto power and legendary NTR became chief minister because of his support. 

Not only that, everyone knows that he was a king maker in both Telugu states.

He is a God like figure for his supporters and a monster for his rivals. His ETV network almost made its presence in every state with local language based programs. 

His rivals would say Rao uplifted his caste people through all his capacities and triggered caste based politics in the Telugu states. For recent grand verdict favoring Chandrabau Naidu, Rao's contribution was immense through his media channels and publications. 

However Ramoji Rao is a name of every household for what he has done in different fields of making money and power.

Yaarada konda (A Telugu novel based on Visakhapatnam city)

 Yaarada konda, it's a title of recent Telugu novel and the writer is Unudurti Sudhakar. Have bought it  online after many of my friends told me for its uniqueness.

 In brief, this book tells us how the present city of Visakhapatnam evolved from the era of British ruling through different kinds of odds. 

The title Yarada konda suggests the iconic hill which stood in the sea waters nearby the city. One can awe at  its spectacular presence and which is turned another sign for Visakhapatnam, of course, Vizag and Waltair are also other names in addition.

History of the city is entwined with plethora of many interesting anecdotes, happenings and social conditions.

 How present politics of the state have influenced is another aspect in the novel. Characters were taken carefully from different view points. 

So the past and present socio political issues got surfaced as the story was moving on. And they unraveled many questions like how , once, a fishing community dominated city turned out a battle ground for other people.

An interesting read. Further the book bagged an award in a competition conducted by NRI based organization.

A Church built by Jabaraj Ji

 Some places always beckon us . Be it of nostalgic or whatever it's called by. With a journo friend James Edwin ji visited a small village Dummugudem in the last month on the mission of procuring details about some British era constructions. Apart from it, we get intrigued to stop at a tiny church. It was named as Garden Church. Full of colorful flowers, plants and trees were found there. An eye feasting scene. Furthermore lullaby like breezing all over. With no pre-plan, we have stopped and entered it and many memories lingered in me.

It was almost more than thirty years back, I happened to meet the founder of this church. His name was Jabaraj ji of Tamil origin. He was a lone crusader in gathering a small group of people and was always seen  toiling his way to dig for laying foundation stones and planting different kinds of saplings. He had no workers and no helpers in the mission. Always indulged in the physical work with shovel, spade and other tools. His body was filled with soil and sweat. At last ,after some years, there was a little shelter appeared in the name of Church along with a beautiful garden.

As he was a lonely person with no family or relatives , he was going to surrounding villages in the remaining time to do prayers and in course of time people started to come here and in the process, he had his own set of enemies to make hurdles. Surprisingly he had gained supporters as well. However, decades passed by. Jabaraj ji died some years back and his people are running it successfully. Present pastor is Vinny with whom I talked for some time about Jabaraj ji. They felt happy being remembered that noble soul. I have never seen such a persistent and hard working man in my life. 

An Erotic Entertainer

 

Harold Robbins. The name heats up everyone who likes reading about inner desires and sexual passion. A basic instinct in every human being. Not only for that, weaving incidents into an interesting story is his forte. That's why he is still in the fray though there are number of authors with the credit of elaborating carnal desires and actions in many ways. Robbins knew very well where to trigger the button of human mind and he was the master in it.

Recently, I have read "Predators" novel , written by Harold Robbins. So late. But okay. Just to kill the time during a journey. The whole theme about a Jew-American who turned to be a soldier in the second world war and at the same time roped in a business deal with an European company. Jerry Cooper, the protagonist posted in the town of France on his war laden duty.

Here , the writer described the difference between two worlds of Europe and America. Four letter words, homosexuals and  all possible erotic experiments delude the reader and this novel published some decades back. Water business Mafia and their games are entertaining and that's why some wise guy said that business is just like a war. It's not a great classic but one time reading is enough.

A Unique Novella Unveiled

 The novel "Nirantara Yatrikudu" will stand as a milestone in Telugu literature, the author Murthy K.V.V.S. has written the British history of Bhadrachalam division in a very simple style. Mallyashri Chinthuri, a noted poet and awardee of Telugu University, said.  He also said that, Murthy K. V. V. S. who became famous by translating renowned English novels like Godfather, The Virgin and the Gypsy, The Old Man and the Sea into Telugu , now  has chosen a rare subject of British era to present events filled to delve into a novel form. 

uthor Murthy said that there is an underlying meaning in unveiling this work especially through the hands of Malyashri. He has been the guiding spirit for Bhadradri area and  striving in literature for the past six decades and has not only trained many budding writers but has also inspired many others, that is why this unique novel has been inaugurated by him.

Vijaya Lakshmi, Sarath Babu, Satish, Sarita and others participated in this program held at Ashok Nagar Colony in Bhadrachalam town and conveyed  their best wishes.

The Fourth Estate by Jeffry Archer

 

This is a book about two media barons. Both were so desperate and ruthless to overtake each other's empire. Richard Armstrong who hailed from an obscure Jewish family from the eastern part of Europe.

 He lost his family and nearest ones during the ravage invasion of Hitler's army. By changing his original name Lubji Hoch to Richard , fought behalf  England and eventually his interest in the media brought him to launch a daily. His success in the venture made him powerful in other aspects too.  

On the other side, in Australia, Keith Townsend son of a renowned media baron wanted to extend his family business entire world.

 Keith was an Oxford educated and money was not a problem for him. His prime rival was none other than Richard Armstrong. 

The whole book is all about their plans, strategies and weaknesses and conspiracies etc. Some readers said that the author built the same story line in Kane and Abel but I have never read it.

Novel goes slowly and lot of pages consumed in building two main characters elaborately. The global scale war between two media barons to invade the territories of each other's circulation explained how employees were used and thrown at times.

 Their desperate struggle led to destruction and were thrown into debts anyway. The novel first published in 1996 and afflicted with some legal issues. 

Rumors  were there that the concept has been drawn from the real incidents of Maxwell and Murdoch.

Why are some books so nostalgic?

 

We read many works. The story in them takes us to place somewhere. Be it a city, a town, a village... and even after reading it once and putting it away, those places do not leave us so quickly. 

We keep mentally traveling there. Unless the author is writing with a great imagination , we don't really feel it. Is this an art..? if it is so, we don't find it in all writers equally ! 

There should be some magic converting the scene into letters that would invoke to see pictures with our mind's eye.  

For instance, if we read Charles Dickens, we will go to London, if we read Thomas Hardy, we will go to Wessex, if we read Mark Twain, we will go to Mississippi, if we read William Faulkner, we will go to the inland areas of the southern part of America. 

Jane Austen has lived in a rural area all her life, and all that beauty can be seen in novels like Pride and Prejudice. Of course, all these are meant to be virtual purely.

Where does all that beauty come from? Any place, has a color and a taste. It is embedded in the surroundings, people and atmosphere. 

When it is painted as it is without any judgment, an honesty emerges. There lies the true beauty in the words. The right and selective words sometimes show a picture in front of us.

 We can't say, every time, a great writer would do such wonder but sometimes that happens and then a reader can't forget all along his life for that quality of description. 

One more thing, if we read Joseph Conrad, we feel like we are sailing on the sea. Because he lived like that. It is doubtful that whether all those who sailed on the sea wrote like that or not. 

It seems that the art of visualizing a feeling very skillfully is something like meditation deeply and in such people that blooms smoothly for reaching the people. In every unforgettable classic , we find more and more of such portrayal characteristics to enhance the emotional imageries. 

I think Somerset Mom and Graham Greene's stories are influenced by their travels, the characters are in various places with living creatures.

 There is something special to say about Ruskin Bond who lives in Mussoorie in our country. While reading his works, the hills, ants, trees, ants, animals, insects, etc. in the Himalayan slopes just keep lingering in our mind's eye.

A Day to Cherish

 A farewell program arranged in the premises of SNAM ZPS school of  Narsapuram, recently. And it was all about to bid adieu to the staff  who have gone out on transfer and promotion. School children entertained with mesmerizing songs and dances. Reminiscences exchanged by every one in line of recalling the good old days. All the invitees have been given welcome note right from gates of the school. Dazzling and colorful cultural activities added more pep to the D-day. Narsapuram high school is one of the most accommodated and well equipped ones when considered the schools in the district. And which has been constructed by the NRI brothers belonged to the same village.

On the occasion , school staff and school management committee  honored Dr. N. Madhusudan Rao to obtain a Doctorate in Hindi from Osmania University. Ex - staff donated some contribution to the school to enhance the development activities. Present Head Master Sri Bolla Venkateswarlu thanked them and he said that he would continue the good work until the last day in his service. Sweets were distributed to all the children. SMC chairman Sri M. Vidyasagar and all other invitees including ex-staff have participated in the gala event and said that their stint at the school was a major milestone.  

A Magic Fiction

 

  

Recently read this socio fantasy novel. It's a unique mix of fantasy, magic, black magic, yoga and a sort of  thrilling story of Hindi block buster movie. Further more, dealt with the rights of LGBT people.  Story set in Delhi with an array of characters like Jai Gill and his family members who all adept at black magic, in western sense, witches. But they teach Yoga classes for well off people and keep earning very well.

Rajani sahab and their family  came into the neighborhood  with a conceit motive. Friendship turned rivalry for a weird reason. Secret organizations move with secret missions. You have to read and know it. That's much better. Some unusual and bizarre rituals would also be known while performing sadhana. At climax, we feel that it is an apt material for some Hindi movie to scare people and keep minting money. Writer Zorian Cross is a theater person, perhaps that quality makes the book dramatic and sometimes interesting with suspense creation.

Cattle lingering

 The cattle was just being gone outside. Some were drinking water in a feeble stream. After that, they would go to further deeper into the forest. No people were there except the shepherd and so they were at their freedom. Have clicked it around the place of Venkatapuram mandal, Mulugu District. Once upon a time it was in the part of Bhadrachalam division.
